ARU London welcomes applications from candidates whose first language is not English. To demonstrate proficiency in the English language, ARU London recognises a number of formal tests.

ARU London English Test
ARU London has partnered with Password to deliver computer-based English Language Tests. Password English language tests are designed and academically managed by CRELLA (the Centre for Research in English Language Learning and Assessment).
The tests are formally aligned to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), the international standard for describing language ability.
We will also consider the Duolingo English Test, with scores of 100 for undergraduate entry and 110 for postgraduate entry, and no less than 90 in all subscores (Literacy, Conversation, Comprehension, Production).

- Password / IELTS: 6.0 (with a minimum of 5.5 in all components)

Postgraduate:
- Password / IELTS: 6.5 (with a minimum of 5.5 in all components)
- Duolingo: 110 (with a minimum of 90 in all components)
- TESA: 70%

English Language Entry Requirements for EU and International Qualifications
Postgraduate courses
If English is not your first language you'll need to be able to show you have the required level of English language. This is so we can ensure you'll be able to follow your course.
For postgraduate courses, our standard entry criteria for postgraduate courses is IELTS 6.5 or equivalent, with nothing lower than 5.5 in any of the four elements (listening, speaking, reading and writing). Some of our courses may have higher English language proficiency requirements.
For international students requiring a student VISA our recommendation is that they take their IELTS (Academic) at an approved test centre.
We also accept the following English language tests as equivalent to IELTS 6.5 with 5.5 in each element:
- TOEFL iBT with 88 overall and a minimum of 17 in Writing and Listening, 18 in Reading and 20 in Speaking
- Pearson PTE (Academic) with 61 overall and a minimum of 59 in all components.
ARU London recognises that qualifications from around the world can give students the level of English required to study for a degree in the UK.

Diplôme du Baccalauréat Général with a grade of 13 or above in English OR Option Internationale du Baccalauréat with a grade of 11 or above in English.
Abitur with a grade of 10 or above in English or 2/6 in English Language as a Leistungkurs.
Erettsegi / Matura (Advanced) with grade 5 or above in English.
Irish Leaving Certificate with grade C or above in English.
Atestats par visparejo videjo izgliti with grade 8 or above in English.
Brandos Atestatas with 75% or above in the National State English exam. Please note we are only able to accept the National State Exam (Valstybinis).
Diplôme de fin d'études secondaires with a grade of 46 (mention bien) or above in English.
Maltese Matriculation Certificate with grade C or above in English.

Swiadectwo Dojrzalosci or Matura with a grade of 70% or above (Advanced Level) in English.
Portguese English language high school examination with a grade of 14 or above, taken as part of the Certificado de fim de Estudos Secundários (Certificate of Completion of Secondary Studies).
Diploma de Bacalaureat (Baccalaureate Diploma) with grade CEFR B2 or above in all English components.
