English Language Requirements

ARU London welcomes applications from candidates whose first language is not English. To demonstrate proficiency in the English language, ARU London recognises a number of formal tests.

Please see below for details of the scores required from the most widely available English language tests (if the test you have taken, or will soon be taking, is not listed, you should contact us to check we recognise this particular test and for details of the scores required for admission). If you have any questions, please email admissions@london.aru.ac.uk

ARU London English Test

ARU London has partnered with Password to deliver computer-based English Language Tests. Password English language tests are designed and academically managed by CRELLA (the Centre for Research in English Language Learning and Assessment).

The tests are formally aligned to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), the international standard for describing language ability.

We will also consider the Duolingo English Test, with scores of 100 for undergraduate entry and 110 for postgraduate entry, and no less than 90 in all subscores (Literacy, Conversation, Comprehension, Production).
