Director of Studies

Salary: £50-£60k pa

Permanent, full-time, onsite

We are seeking a skilled Director of Studies to lead our Director of Studies Office, working with senior management and reporting the Academic Director for Student Success, Continuation and Quality the successful candidate will be responsible for the coordination the overall running of the Director of Studies Office, and all of its associated functions.

You will be responsible for leading a team of student facing advisors who provide support to students on progression and study plans, intermission and exceptional circumstances.

You will manage the complaints and appeals process and liaise with staff both in London and at Core campus, ensuring parity of service with each location. You will provide advice and guidance on our academic regulations to staff and students.

You will attend and contribute to meetings and coordinate incident response and student communication.

The successful candidate will be motivated and motivational, able to lead a team with empathy but also firm direction, and equally carry forward tasks to completion with minimal guidance. You will ensure that the Team delivers an effective and high-quality service, which centers on the student experience.

You must hold an undergraduate degree or equivalent, and have an academic background. You will ideally have been educated to postgraduate level and/or hold a teaching qualification. Working knowledge of HE academic regulations is essential, as is experience of leading a Team.

As with all managers, you will be jointly responsible for ensuring an excellent student experience and may be asked to take on other duties commensurate with the responsibilities and purpose of the post, in this regard.

Quality Officer

Salary: £30-35k pa

We are seeking an experienced Quality Officer to join our Quality Office, working closely with senior management and reporting the Academic Director for Student Success, Continuation and Quality, the successful candidate will aid in the administration of our quality processes, and all associated functions.

You will be responsible for managing and servicing the Faculty Education Committee, Module Approval Panels, Post-Awards Boards, and Staff/Student Liaison Committees.

You will the assist the Academic Director in acting as the guardian of the curriculum through management of Course Specification Forms (CSFs) and Module Definition Forms (MDFs), preparing the Academic Calendar and analysing quality data, providing regular and accurate management information. You will provide advice and guidance on our quality processes to staff and students.

You will help to administer curricular developements and will have involvement in the continual enhancement of our quality assurance.

The successful candidate will be motivated to carry forward tasks to completion with minimal guidance. You will deliver an effective and high-quality service, which centers on attention to detail and forward planning.

You must hold an undergraduate degree or equivalent. You will ideally have experience of working in a quality assurance role, preferably in HE. Working knowledge of HE academic regulations would be beneficial.

As with all staff, you will be jointly responsible for ensuring an excellent student experience and may be asked to take on other duties commensurate with the responsibilities and purpose of the post, in this regard, from time to time.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to join our Academic Support Team, providing 1-1 study skills tutoring and working as a key part of the University’s Academic Integrity process.

The Academic Support Officer will work closely with other members of the wider Academic Registry Team and other internal departments where necessary.

The successful candidate is expected to deliver an effective and high-quality service and will be required to support students in developing their academic skills as independent learners, and to ensure the University’s academic regulations – in terms of assessment offences – are upheld.

You must hold an undergraduate degree or equivalent, and have a background in education, training, or university academic support. You will ideally have been educated to postgraduate level and/or hold a teaching qualification.

Our Academic Support team assists students on a wide range of academic matters that impact their university journey and future employability prospects.

The principal responsibilities are as follows:

  • To provide 1-1 study skills tutoring.
  • To provide support to the Academic Schools, in terms of assessment, feedback, and mentoring.
  • To manage the University’s Academic Integrity process, from making decisions on allegations of academic misconduct through to processing assessment offences.
  • To promote and support academic integrity throughout the University
  • Any other duties commensurate with the responsibilities and purpose of the post
