Getting to our Campus: using public transport in the UK
Our campus, situated by the docklands in east London has state of the art facilities for our students to use. Our East India campus opened in September 2019, the newly transformed, contemporary site in East London was part of a multi-million-pound refurbishment. Our facilities are spread over two buildings, with over 100,000 sq. ft of teaching and communal workspace. The buildings have some of the latest high-tech equipment, readily available for our students to enhance their studies and skills.

Public transport in the UK is generally of a high standard, but can be more expensive than in your home country. Buses or coaches are cheaper than trains, but you may have a longer journey time. Taxis are very expensive.
Remember, it’s always best to arrive at your campus during working hours (9am–5pm, Monday–Friday).
Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, London Luton and London City Airport are all the main airports in and around London which can be conveniently reached by public transport. They all offer international and domestic flights, and some low budget airlines that travel mainly to home and European destinations. e.g. Ryanair.
Coach/bus services in the UK
Our campus can be accessed by a safe and reliable coach service from all airports mentioned above. Tickets can be purchased in advance online at nationalexpress.com.
Trains in the UK
Trains can be fast and convenient, but also expensive and crowded at peak times.
We recommend downloading the Trainline app to your mobile phone, where you can plan your journey, find train times and costs, and find information about delays or cancellations. You can also visit nationalrail.co.uk.
London Underground
The London Underground, often referred to as the ‘Tube’, has different lines running for around 20 hours every day (some lines run a night service on Fridays and Saturdays). Each line has a name and is shown in a different colour on the Underground map. At certain times of the day (between 8am–10am and 4pm–7pm), the Underground will be very busy as people are using it to travel to and from work.
You may need to change lines on the Underground during your journey. You can do this by getting off the train at a station where the line you are travelling on crosses the line which goes to the station you need.
Travel in London is more convenient with an Oyster card. An Oyster card is a smart card you can add money to, allowing you to pay as you go, and it can be used to travel by bus, tube, tram, DLR, London Overground, most Elizabeth line, IFS Cloud Cable Car and Thames Clippers River Bus services, so it’s useful if you travel around London regularly. To buy an Oyster card, visit tfl.gov.uk or download the ‘TfL Go’ app.
Before you can enter the Underground, you must identify the Underground station you need to get to. Tube maps are displayed at stations, or you can download the TfL Go app or visit tfl.gov.uk, which includes information on how to pay for Tube journeys.
East India DLR station is situated onsite, with the journey from platform to classroom only a few minutes walk. From East India DLR, you can arrive in Canning Town in 2 minutes (Jubilee Line), Canary Wharf in 5 minutes (Jubilee Line and Elizabeth Line), and Stratford and Bank in 13 minutes (Central Line, Jubilee Line, Northern Line, London Overground, TfL Raill and Greater Anglia rail services).
Taxi
Taking a taxi from any airport to our campus will be very expensive, although it is normally cheaper if you book in advance.
If you have a large amount of heavy luggage, you may decide that the convenience of a door-to-door service is worth the expense, but please do read the information on this page and consider other travel options that can save you money.
