On Monday 10th of February we were delighted to host students from ARU Cambridge and ARU Chelmsford to compete against 2 teams from ARU London in the Finals of the Commonwealth in England Bar Association Mooting Competition.
After two very close semi-finals, the final took place, judged by Lord Justice Singh of the Court of Appeal. With the final winners being ARU Cambridge.
Lord Justice Singh was very gracious with his time and gave those mooting, and the many student spectators in attendance the benefit of his experience, including lots of practical tips on advocacy that he delivered along with his judgment.
After the judgment his Lordship posed for photos with students before joining them for a food and drinks reception laid on by CEBA, where students had the opportunity to speak to him and gain valuable advice and insight into their future careers. He was joined by a fellow Judge and KC who spoke with students about life at the Bar and gave suggestions and contacts for marshalling and mini pupillage opportunities.
Many thanks to CEBA and Mark Kingston from ARU Law School for organising such a wonderful event for students.
