Enterprise Awareness Week
The Enterprise Hub in conjunction with our Graduate Careers Service hosted an ambitious Enterprise Awareness Week with events every lunchtime. The event was a great success with nearly 300 students attending over the 5 days, some of whom attended all 5 events.
Students took time from their lunch to engage in the sessions, eagerly making notes to ensure they were able to capture information that would help them on their entrepreneurship journey.
The event topics were dictated by the needs of the students as a previous event allowed the Enterprise team to gather an insight the knowledge gaps of our potential entrepreneurs and established business.
Each session consisted of a presentation for the first 15 minutes on a dedicated topic, such as marketing, finance, Business development, and diversification. This was followed by 45-minute panel session, whereby additional guests joined to permit an interactive session. The panel session gave students the opportunity to gain invaluable knowledge and guidance from practised entrepreneurs, such as Makayla Whyte, one of our current directors and myself, both of us were successful founders of businesses. The use of real-life experience further enhanced the event and students left eager to make one-to-one appointments with one of our enterprise hub advisors.
Setting up your own enterprise is an excellent way to put your degree, knowledge and skills to great use. Please come along to our Graduate Employability, Enterprise and Postgraduate Study Hub (4th floor Import building East India, Ground floor Charterhouse) for more information about setting up your own enterprise.
I would like to thank all the students who attended, the enterprise team and the speakers. Michelle. B, Ben. P. Reza, Austin. C, Jolanta, Carol. C, and our guest alumni speaker Ediola for lending their support and time.
I would also like to thank the academics for their continued support in promoting the events to the students, this is a very important source of contact for the enterprise hub, and may it continue.
A special mention to Martina, Yas, Makayla and the Marketing team who have been an integral part of the continued success of the enterprise hub.
We look forward to working in collaboration with both students and academics on our planned future events, details to follow.
Mike Spalding, The Enterprise Hub Lead.
