Law Clinic for Students

Calling all aspiring legal professionals!

ARU London, in collaboration with Republic, is currently working on an exciting new project where we will set up a Law Clinic providing free legal advice to Tower Hamlets residents who are otherwise unable to afford access to legal assistance.

We are currently looking for students who would be interested in volunteering at the clinic as Student Advisors.

Full training is provided, and your work will be supervised by a qualified lawyer.

The clinic will initially be advising on cases related to Employment Law and Family Law.

What you will need to do:

  • Commit to up to two cases per month, equivalent to up to 10 hours’ work per month. This includes attending two half-hour online meetings during working hours (Monday – Friday, 9 – 5.30pm).
  • Complete training on professionalism, ethics, confidentiality and the basics of Employment Law and Family Law

What you will gain:

  • Legal work experience including basic legal research, drafting briefing notes, interviewing clients and drafting legal advice notes
  • The opportunity to observe qualified lawyers in client meetings
  • Full training, guidance and support from ARU London throughout your volunteering experience
  • An opportunity to give back to the Tower Hamlets community

If you are interested, please complete the expression of interest form below.

Please note all prospective Student Advisors will need to go through a recruitment process to assess their suitability and commitment to volunteering at the clinic. Not all applicants will be successful, but feedback will be provided on your application and you will be encouraged to apply again if you are unsuccessful.
