Student Town Hall - September 2022
Thank you to everyone who attended our town hall event on the 15th and 16th of September! As always it is lovely to hear from our students and the SU. Below are key topics that were covered:
Great NSS scores
Our National Student Satisfaction ratings have been excellent, reflecting how our students feel about ARU London, with high rankings in many areas such as student voice and learning community. Our overall satisfaction was 8.1 higher than the national HEI average, and we were rated in the upper quartile of all universities in 5 of the nine areas.
Attendance & Travel Bursary
The Travel Bursary for the last trimester was paid into students’ accounts on the 7th Sept, and for the forthcoming trimester, will be paid in early 2023 (after exam boards). This is awarded only to all those who have physically attended 90% of classes and those who submit their assessments.
A reminder to students that to log attendance, they will need to log on to their VLE account, select their module and the first thing they’ll see is to mark attendance. For more information see the helpful attendance guide on our website.
Employability Awards
The Employability Award Schemes will commence on the 3rd of October and help get students ready for graduate employment opportunities and postgraduate studies – students can access the scheme online. The Bronze Award applies to levels 3 and 4, Silver for Level 5 and the Gold Award for Levels 6 and 7. The Employability Awards sessions will remain on Zoom throughout the trimester.
Industry exposure sessions will also be commencing soon – students are required to attend 3 industry exposure sessions to attain each award.
Returning to Campus
Classes will only be taught physically from this trimester going forward, and students are expected to attend in person. If a student has challenges, they can contact the Dos office via the VLE live chat, or they can email: dos@london.aru.ac.uk
If a student has wellbeing/safety concerns and they would like to talk this through with an SU adviser, they can book an appointment through the following link: https://www.angliastudent.com/london/advice/book/ or email one of the SU advisers here: london.advice@angliastudent.com
A reminder that student support services will remain hybrid, being both online and face to face. This includes online support features such as Live Chat functions, emails to departments and the VLE as well as those available on site.
