May

Thank you all for attending the Student Town Hall event on May 9th. During the event, we discussed important updates regarding ARU London, including the latest news for our students. For those who missed it, here is a summary of what was discussed:

Reflecting on the January 2023 trimester

The last trimester at ARU London has been eventful with several highlights. The Leavers Ball was a fantastic event that celebrated our students and their achievements. The Founders Festival was also a great success, providing an opportunity for students to learn more about starting a business and interacting with businesses from overseas. The International event organised by the students’ union showcased the diverse cultural presence at ARU London, with great food and a lively atmosphere.

The upcoming SU Awards and other student events promise to bring more excitement in trimester 3! Please note that the SU awards have been postponed due to a strike, and the new date is yet to be announced.

Thanks to the students for our SES and CES results. Feedback from students on our surveys was mostly positive, but the PDT process received slightly lower ratings. We are planning to refresh this and will make changes from September. However, we would like to encourage students to leave feedback as the response rate on surveys was not great and we would love to hear more on your views about your university experience.

We have approved new PG courses, including LLM, MSc in Finance and Accounting, and MSc in Hospitality and Tourism Management. We have also seen the introduction of our outstanding Graduate Attributes. These encompass both hard and soft skills that recruiters seek and will be integrated into our modules, award schemes, and employability services moving forward.

Plans for next trimester

Our plans for 2023 and 2024 include launching new courses,  and implementing some fantastic up-to-date curriculums for UG and PG students. We also will continue an annual Leavers Ball based on positive feedback and are looking to expand the range of societies at ARU London. We have had some great activity from the Law Society with activities such as Parliament trips, we hope to organise more trips like these in the future!

We would also love your feedback as we are conducting research on the value of e-textbooks in the PG and UG experience to feed into the national debate on the significance of e-learning on the student experience.

Q and A

When moving from level 3 to 4, class schedules may change but efforts are made to keep the same day. However, this is not guaranteed and students are notified as soon as possible.

Is my degree recognised internationally?

Our degrees are recognised internationally, providing students with opportunities for global recognition.

What are the employability awards?

Employability awards will commence soon offering students various opportunities to engage with the employability services. Graduating students are encouraged to review the recruitment services we provide for a range of great job opportunities.

Why has information regarding student finance been moved onto the live chat/online?

All student finance information has been moved online for time efficiency and improved communication with SFE. The aim is to enhance services for students, but we will monitor this to make sure this is effective.
