Why did you choose to study for a master’s degree?
I chose to pursue a Master's degree to build on the strong academic foundation I developed during my BA (Hons) in Finance and Accounting, and to deepen my expertise in Accounting and financial management. I believe that this Postgraduate study will allow me to develop advanced analytical, strategic, and decision-making skills that are essential for senior and specialist roles in finance. It is also a natural progression towards my long-term academic goal of pursuing a PhD and contributing meaningfully to the finance profession. On a personal level, a Master's degree represents an important milestone as I will be the first person in my family to reach postgraduate-level education. This achievement carries a great personal significance and motivates me to maintain high academic standards and fully engage with my studies.
What made you apply for a scholarship?
I applied for a scholarship because, while I am highly motivated and academically capable, I face significant financial constraints. I am the sole income earner in my household and a caregiver for my husband, who has been undergoing treatment for brain cancer. In addition to tuition fees, I will be travelling from Peterborough to London to attend classes, which represents a substantial extra financial commitment that is not covered by the postgraduate loan. The scholarship makes postgraduate study financially viable for me and ensures that personal circumstances do not limit my academic potential or professional growth.

The Aru London scholarship has been life-changing. It has significantly reduced the financial pressure associated with postgraduate study, particularly the costs of tuition and travel. This support has allowed me to focus fully on my studies, engage deeply with the course, and continue striving for academic excellence without the constant stress of financial uncertainty.
What do you hope to achieve after your degree?
After completing my MSc in Accounting and Financial Management, I aim to progress into specialised roles such as a financial analyst, management accountant, auditor, or business consultant. In the long term, I aspire to move into leadership or advisory positions and to pursue a PhD in Finance, Sustainability, or Business Strategy. Ultimately, I hope to use my knowledge and experience to contribute to ethical decision-making, sustainable business practices, and organisational impact.
