What have you studied/will you be studying here at ARU London?
I previously completed my LLB (Hons) Law degree at ARU Chelmsford, which gave me a comprehensive foundation in core legal principles such as contract law, tort, criminal law, constitutional law, and legal research methodologies. This undergraduate programme developed my analytical, legal writing, and critical thinking skills. Building on this foundation, I am now studying for the LLM International Law at ARU London, which focuses on public international law, human rights, trade law, and dispute resolution. This specialisation prepares me for careers within international organisations, multinational corporations, and cross-border legal practice.
Why did you choose to study for a master’s degree?
After completing my LLB, I recognised that the globalised legal environment requires advanced expertise in international law, treaties, and dispute resolution. The LLM in International Law offers the knowledge necessary for work across jurisdictions and within international institutions. I am particularly motivated by the intellectual challenge of understanding how different legal systems interact and influence global policy, including issues such as human rights and environmental protection. This degree represents both a strategic career investment and an opportunity to engage with meaningful work that has global impact.
What made you apply for a scholarship?
Postgraduate education is a major financial commitment, and I wanted to ensure that financial constraints would not limit my academic performance or professional growth. Coming from a background where access to quality education was not always certain, I understand how financial barriers can prevent capable students from fulfilling their potential. The scholarship allows me to pursue my LLM without the strain of high tuition fees or excessive work commitments, giving me the opportunity to focus on academic excellence, participate in extracurricular activities, and build professional networks essential for success in international law.
How has ARUL helped you with this 50% scholarship?
The scholarship has provided crucial financial relief, covering tuition, commuting costs, and essential learning resources. It has allowed me to fully dedicate myself to my studies without the burden of debt or the need for part-time work. Beyond financial support, it reflects ARUL’s commitment to diversity and student opportunity. This investment has enabled me to engage deeply with the programme, take advantage of professional development opportunities, and strengthen my position for a career in international law.
What do you hope to achieve after your degree?
My goal is to use the knowledge gained through this programme to advance my career and make a meaningful contribution to the field of international law. I hope to work with international organisations such as the United Nations or World Bank, join multinational law firms dealing with cross-border transactions, or contribute to government agencies focused on trade and diplomacy. In the long term, I aspire to become a specialist in international trade law or environmental treaties, with potential to move into consultancy or academia. Ultimately, I aim to contribute to the development of global legal frameworks that promote fairness, justice, and sustainability.
